This is a place history books are written about. Governor George Grey laid the foundations for this home before changing his mind to build on Kawau. Albert Sanford, the forefather of today's illustrious Sanford fishing group, established his first Auckland factory here. Parts of the fish smokehouse still stand today.
Now after being the one family since 1984, it is presented for sale as an idyllic island escape with buildings and property features that are unique, not only for Rakino, but for the Hauraki Gulf Islands overall. Rakino is rodent free with bellbirds and birdlife in abundance.
Comprising 4.4364ha (more or less) of Riparian beachfront, a jetty that adds such individuality to the site and approx 1.4ha of the property being the only significant flat area on all of Rakino.
